Getting Started

Signing up, verifying and updating your account, request a quote – everything you need to know to join the Business Key Business Directory.

How do I sign up on Business Key?

To create a personal user account on Business Key, follow the instructions below.

  1. Go to “Login
  2. Click in the “Signup Here
  3. Follow the steps on the next pages and click SAVE

Once you sign up, we’ll send a confirmation message to the email you provided. Then, you’ll need to click the confirmation link in the email. Be sure to check your spam folder and any other email tabs if you don’t see this email in your inbox.

If you don’t receive a confirmation message or run into other trouble with your account, please contact us at admin@thekey.com.au.

How do I bookmark or save businesses that I'd like to use again?

We’ve created a Favourites option to help you keep track of the products and services you want to use again.

Below is the instructions on how to “Save to Favourites”:

  1. Go to the Directory search bar and search a Category.
  2. On the Category search results, click the “Star” Button of the business that you want to add to Favourites.
  3. Login to your account and click the “Favourites” button to see the businesses you want to review or use again.

How do I message a business or request a quote?

Email”, “Send Enquiry”, and the “Business Number” allows users to message business owners directly about the business or its services – pricing, availability, offerings, or anything else you may need to ask.

How do I list my business on your directory?

If you’re a business owner and would like to add your business to Goldfields or  Midwest Key:

  1. Search for your business to make sure it’s not already listed.
  2. If your business is not yet listed, click ‘List My Business’.
  3. Choose your listing: Free, Silver, Gold, Platinum.
  4. Enter your business information in the provided fields. 
  5. Click Submit.

However, we’re not accepting any requests from outside of the Goldfields or Midwest region as of the moment as Business Key is designed for people and businesses within the region. If you’re having difficulties filling out certain fields, please contact us at 1300 017 990 or email us at admin@thekey.com.au.

Using the Business Key Mobile App

Find and contact local businesses on the go with the Business Key mobile business directory app. We connect you with the best businesses who really know their stuff!

 

How do I download the Business Key Mobile App?

You can download the Business Key App from Google Play or Apple Store and get connected with local people with businesses in the community.

  2. Find the “Business Key” App.
  3. Tap Install.

Located at the center of the homepage with a Search button. You can search the following fields: Category, Business Name, & Keywords. We’re always working to improve our search tool so we can deliver the most relevant local results to our users. 

 

How does your directories determine its search results?

We try to show the most useful and relevant results in response to what our consumer searches. Users can sort their search results in different ways, and our directories several filters (Business Name, Category, Keyword, Location) that you can apply to further narrow their search results.

What’s the best way to search for something on your directories?

You can find almost any type of local business on Goldfields Key or Midwest Key. Use the search bar to search for key terms (e.g. engineering contractor, plumber, takeaway food or the name of a specific business). Use the location bar to set the geographic region you want to search (e.g. city or town location).

Updating Business Information

I have a business, how can I list it on Goldfields Key?

If you’re a business owner and would like to add your business to Goldfields Key or Midwest Key:
* Search for your business to make sure it’s not already listed.
* If your business is not yet listed, click ‘List My Business’.
* Choose your listing: Free, Silver, Gold, Platinum.
* Enter your business information in the provided fields.
* Click Submit.

What Category should I place my business in?

To view the range of business categories found on our directories, check out our “Browse by Category” page. Expanding the different categories will show you more refined categories. If you still can’t find your business category, please contact us at 1300 017 990 or email admin@thekey.com.au.

How do I suggest changes to the general business info?

To suggest general business information updates (hours, phone number, address, etc.), you can submit it to us and we’ll upload the changes after it has been reviewed. If you’re reporting important business changes (moves, closures, etc.), please don’t hesitate to call us at 1300 017 990 or email admin@thekey.com.au.

Can I choose what photos get uploaded in the gallery for my business page?

Yes, you definitely can! You can send us your chosen photos for your gallery and we’ll put it up for you at no cost.

How long does it take for business information updates to be evaluated?

Updates from Goldfields Key or Midwest Key will appear on your page immediately, but we’re also obliged to review any changes before it goes live.

Why did the business information on my page revert after I changed it?

We want our directories’ business pages to be simple, accurate, and generally reflective of the way consumers recognise a business. If you think we got it wrong, please submit the change again with an explanation.

I've just updated my business listing. Why don't search engines reflect my changes?

Search engines need to refresh their database to pick up any changes that have been made on the Goldfields Key or Midwest Key website. The refresh usually occurs within a few days, however, it can take over a few weeks for search engines to update their database. Please note that Business Key doesn’t control this process.

I just registered my business. Why isn’t it showing up in search results?

If you’ve just added your business to our directories, please allow 48 hours for your business to start appearing in the website as we need to verify and review your request. 

If you’re searching for your business in a search engine, such as Google, please note that search engines need to refresh their database to pick up any changes that have been made on the Goldfields or Midwest Key website. The refresh usually occurs within a few days, however, it can take over a few weeks for search engines to update their database. Please note that Business Key doesn’t control this process.

 

How can I get my business listing to show up in every suburb or postcode I service?

Basic and Free business listings will only appear in searches for the postcode in which the business is physically located. If you need wider reach and want to get your business on the first page of search engines, you can purchase our Directory Packages.

What should I do if I think my account has been compromised?

At Business Key, we value user privacy and make every effort to ensure that the site is secure. If you are unable to log in on any of our directory websites or have further questions or concerns, please contact us at 1300 017 990.

Why was I asked to confirm my email address?

When your email address is added to a Goldfields Key account, we will email you to confirm you made this request. This happens when you sign up for a new account, or add a new email to an existing account. To confirm your address, click the button “Confirm Email” provided in the email

Without your approval, your email address will remain unconfirmed and the associated account will remain limited in functionality. If you would like to close the Goldfields Key account entirely, you can request an account closure.
